I personally loved the local kid's programs in Oregon. I made it a habit to never miss Ramblin Rod on weekdays or Bumpity on Sundays. Anyone remember that goofy clump of grass and his pal, Fred the worm? haha. Two of my favorites.

How about you? Any memories you'd like to share?

In the late 50's early 60's there was always a dance to go to and meet friends, in Eugene there was the monroe stomp, A take off of American Band stand was the Teen Beat, I think it was on KEZI TV---Not a lot of hanging in the Mall

Ramblin' Rod liked my deep voice and had me look into the camera and say, "How now, brown cow?" Grandma and Mom said they zoomed in on my face and it was hilarious. I was on the show when it was done by his predecessor, too, Addie Bobkins. I'm sure now that his name was Bob Adkins. I don't remember any other local kids' shows. My brothers dominated the TV, and I didn't know what they got out of it. When I was 13 I found out I needed glasses. Black and white TV ain't much to look at when you can't see it. By then there was no chance of getting addicted. Saved me a lifetime of time wasted that particular way. Now computers are another matter.

I was on the Heck Harper show way back when. Then in later life I discovered him singing in a lounge in clackamas. It was almost sad to see him trying to make a living as a lounge act.
